Pushing her sweaty hair away from her face, May leaned back to pop her back.
There was a new batch that needed their wings clipped, and May had just spent the whole afternoon chasing them back in the pen. She would have to help her father clip them tomorrow, since her mother refused to go anywhere near the geese after multiple...incidents.
She had a feeling by the end of the day tomorrow, they might be having quite a bit of roast goose. Which might not be terrible. Katniss and Peeta were suppose to have company coming today.
In fact, he should be getting here any moment. She wandered to the front of the house, climbing up on the fence to sit and watch wile she rested. She had met Cerni a few times, here and there. There were only so many Victors left, and so their circles passed together. Besides the little ones next door, they were the only children of victors.
Still, it had been years. It would be a lie to say she wasn't curiouse. And excited.

At her equally quiet answer, he looked back curiously at the girl. He'd heard so many stories about both her parents. She didn't look much like what he'd heard about them, sitting on the fence like that. Unfortunately, that didn't keep him from feeling slightly intimidated. And her age made it worse. After all, the older girls at school seemed to think everyone under sixteen was a nuisance. He knew Aunt Katniss and Uncle Peeta had a son and a daughter but they were still little. Well, he'd probably spend most of his time with the grown-ups like he usually did.

It was nearly Twilight before she was able to get out again, slipping across the yard and over to the Mellark's house, searching out the new arrivals now that she wasn't covered in goose.

He looked up at the sound of footsteps. He smiled shyly when he saw the Abernathy girl.

She hoped up on the railing, again, not realizing she was mirroring her position from before. The Mellark household had always been open to her, and she didn't feel the least uncomfortable here.
In fact she had a feeling soon enough they would have bake good out here toi much on. If she knew Peeta Mellark at all.

She was no forest goddess like Katniss, but she knew where their were fish. She certainly wouldn't mind one. And she really wouldn't mind one made by him. He was much cuter than the last time she remembered seeing him.
Although to be fair she was pretty sure she just hated all boys at that point in time.
"Can I see it?"

He handed it to her eagerly. "They're not that hard to learn to use. I could teach you in an hour or two. If you'd like, of course. Or I could make one long enough to stretch across the creek."

She smiled, that little mix of shy and hopeful she knew could get a boy wrapped around her finger.

He was definitely not immune to that smile. Girls back in Four didn't usually look at him that way. The son of two Victors didn't attract that kind of attention.

Most of those around here were. Except her parents. But she never minded having some time to herself in the morning.
She didn't mind having it not to herself, either.

Plus, then he could go out and come back before Mama woke to worry about him.

It would be a good morning for it, too. Cool, but not cold, and good weather. She was looking forward to it, for more reasons than hanging out with Cerni. Though that was enough of a reason in it's own right.

"Kinda we can eat? I don't know the breeds. Katniss might." She tilted her head to the other house. "She knows the woods in and out."

She bit her lip, thinking her plans over.
"I'm gonna go in. I have chores."
And before he could react, she went up on her toes and planted a kiss on his cheek.
ugh, need more/better icons for Cerni...
He shook his head and went inside to talk to his aunt about fishing spots.
it's ok, someday I will be swapping PBs on you for her.
Bouncing on her feet, she was anxious to meet up with Cerni. Really, it wasn't every day a lovely boy ended up in 12.
