Katniss didn't know why she was here. And that alone was enough to make her nervous.

It made her more nervous that it was only her. Peeta was back in 12. Haymitch too. And it hadn't been Effie who had come to gather her from 12.

Snow had told them they had done well. That they had fooled the people, that the marriage had diverted enough attention from the rebellion, or something. But it had been enough.

So why was she here.

Throat dry, but head held high, she waited in the rose garden, trying not to tremble, or even look uncomfortable. If she wasn't so deeply repelled by them, the place would be beautiful. Instead, she just felt like she was being smothered by them.

It'd been fascinating, really, how quick the demand for the "Girl on Fire" had erupted. It reminded him of the days when Finnick Odair first surfaced onto the Capitol. Surprisingly, there wasn't much demand for the boy from 12; the fake leg seemed to have killed the interest. Pity.

The president strolls through the garden, knowing the escort would leave her here. Here she would be frightened, simply by the presence of his precious flowers. Perhaps that would kill that "fighting spirit".

When he sees her, a small smile crosses his lips. It could almost be friendly- if it weren't for those snakelike eyes.

"Hello, Ms. Everdeen."

Despite her goal to look as composed as possible, she jumped when he spoke, glancing up from the rose she had been eyeing.

"Hello, President." She said with a nod, swallowing against her dry throat. "What can I do for you."

Her tone was light, casual, and she was proud of herself. She even managed a flat smile.
